The Motor Industry Bargaining Council (MIBCO) has issued Circular No. 25 of 2025, dated 26 September 2025, outlining the provisional prescribed wage adjustments applicable until 31 August 2026
Key Points to Note:
- These wage rates are provisional and will remain so until the Main Collective Agreement is published and gazetted by the Department of Employment and Labour.
- The provisional tables include minimum wage rates and guaranteed increases for all Divisions, Chapters, and Sectors in the Motor Industry.
- Employers who choose to implement the increases before gazetting will be protected by the set-off clause in the Main Agreement, avoiding double increases.
- Exemptions: Employers seeking exemption from actual/guaranteed increases will need to formally apply to MIBCO once the agreements are gazetted.
- Allowance updates include standby, call-out, tool, travelling, search, and holiday allowances, as well as apprentice wage scales.
Important Reminder:
Employers are urged to update their returns with the MIBCO Returns Department to ensure alignment with the new provisional wage schedules.
For the full circular and wage tables, please refer to the MIBCO website: www.mibco.org.za.
TESD will continue to update members as the situation develops, particularly once the Main Collective Agreement is officially gazetted.
